On the 5th of July, 2019, I co-curated my first art exhibition at NEON PARLOUR Gallery.
Along with friend, Loren Stevanja, we created a project featuring 15 Melbourne and Sydney artists, each given the brief to produce work that explores their understanding of what it means to be a woman.
The Original Woman featured works from:
Ambient DJ Set by CLOUDY KU
Nibbles by SHOP BAO NGOC
Flyer design by RIDA ABASSI
Illustration for Zine by CLAUDIA CHEW
The show was held with the premise to raise funds and awareness for alternative forms of cancer treatment, following Loren’s diagnosis only months before.
Showcasing works across photography, writing, sculpture, floristry and painting, we raised $4,000 on the opening night in support of our cause, with 250+ people through the door to witness this event and join in our discussion.
We produced and printed informational zines to be taken away on the evening, detailing Loren’s journey and creating conversation around topics not usually spoken of.
Recap images of opening night photographed on 35mm by Natalie Jurrjens.
